In the beginning, learning to develop a consistent practice should be one of your top priorities. If you are not consistently spending the time working on areas you want to work on then the possibility to make the meaningful changes you wish to make just are not there. An investigation and tools are needed to help us, especially when the days are tough. Some people investigate and may even natu...

Why I Practice Everywhere

After you develop a consistent practice, one of the many difficulties we run into is staying within our comfort zone. This could be the specific place we practice, the people around us, the environment, etc. If we stay in this comfort place forever, you will find when something disturbs your practice ( and many things will! ), it will be very difficult to continue. So, I make it a point to prac...

thx 🙏
There is a lot of Bull crap they tech in Martial Arts Dojos in America. Horse stance is bullcrap. Bruce Lee never used it.
There are different perspectives to the practice of Martial Arts. I view it as some are more 'Martial' and some are more 'Art'. I am not after the "best" style for this or that. I am after all that can be learned from the practice. This includes more traditional ways of training that are more on the art side of martial arts or practices like wrestling, jiu jitsu and boxing (all of which I practiced for many years) that are more on the martial side of martial arts. You are not going to win any fights with the horse stance but you can gain a lot from it.
Whats the deal with the hand with a timer in front of the camera. Theres never anything On the timer. Just a hand with a timer with Zeros on it nothing more... whats the point....
Just to show when the time starts and stops nothing more than this. It would have been better to keep the timer in frame throughout but hindsight is 20/20.
Very exciting!
❤
Good vid. A massive take-away from this is just to consider where you are practicing on the percentile spectrum of your current ability or performance. The temptation to reach toward performance outcomes can be extremely high, especially on skills with high technique components. And that can really limit progress. It's very exciting to go to 101% of your max, but the ability to repeatedly demonstrate complete control at maybe 85% of your max can be a lot more important. Spend some time increasing the width of the pyramid's base, and just let height increases naturally occur. Performance and training are mostly separate concepts.
A great summary of the points. Good things to reflect upon.
The music!! Awesome
Most important EAT ONLY BEEF 🍳🥩🍳🥩🍳🥩👌🏻 AND EGGS AND DRINK ONLY WATER 💧 😋
Nice work 🙏💪
Thank you 🙏🙏
Good insights into the struggles of the unfortunate untalented (like myself, 3 years training= no freestanding). Have wasted months at a time with useless time wasting like you describe, like kickups to nothingness
It is something we all go through to some extent with different practices. I know I have done it many times as well.
@@TheTaoWayif one of your students continues to make no progress after some considerable time, do you ever advise abandoning a part of training such as handstand, or is something like handstand too crucial to movement training you would ask them to persist even if no progress (end result ) happens? Or would time be better spent elsewhere? Maybe there is no yes/no/easy answer to this but i think it is an interesting question to those who train without a coach to think about. Personally, I plan to carry on with handstand practice regardless of 'result' but it might be a bit of a waste of time perhaps leaving other skills on the table
I would not say the handstand is crucial for 'Movement'. The handstand may be crucial to learn certain areas of physical movement but not to develop a Movement Practice. That being said, it is a good thing to learn that can teach and give you a lot. If progress is not being made it is important to investigate the why and work here. Often adjusting various areas and making sure the student is working with the proper volume/frequency/intensity leads to good results. There is always a time to move on but maybe 'no progress' is not the best orientation to move on.
@@TheTaoWaythank you for considering this question 🙏 I appreciate it a lot
Love the fake celebration for the 5 second hold 😆
It looks authentic because I have done it for real too many times.
any tip for not reaching the 60s x 5 sets after years of consistent chest to wall? Other than improving shoulder mobility?
This can come down to many factors. Here are some to investigate and explore. 1. Frequency: How many sessions are you doing per week? Have you increased, decreased or stayed the same across the years? 2. Volume: How many sets per sessions, how long is each hold per session / per set? 3. Exercise selection: Are you just doing chest to wall handstand holds or also using exercises to strengthen the wrists, shoulders, elbows, etc.? 4. Progressive Overload: Are you aiming to progressively overload on each session (adding 1 sec to 1 set every session, decreasing the rest time, increasing 1 set each session, etc.)? These are all examples of how you could progressively overload. 5. Fatigue: Are you able to maintain the same time of holds across the sets or are your hold times diminishing with every set (this can be a sign your progression is too hard or you are not resting enough)? Are you feeling recovered on most sessions? Are you able to repeat the same numbers on every session? These are just some questions to ask yourself and explore. The answers can start to give you some ideas of where the work is needed. I hope it helps.
@@TheTaoWay 1. 4-5 times per week 2. 5 sets, currently at an average of 47s per set but been stuck there for a while. 3. I also do free holds and straddle and tuck (super hard for me as my shoulders aren't as open). 4. I try to add seconds to sets but it's impossible, I'm pushing myself to the max for a long time and haven't been able to pass the 47s average. 5. I do 55, 50, 45, 45, 40 usually, trying my max each set. Other than that been working tirelessly on opening my shoulders by stretching lats, pecs, rotators cuffs and improving my mobility also with my scapula's muscles. Sorry for the rant.
What immediately stands out here without knowing you personally is the frequency and intensity. 4-5 times per week is a lot of frequency for this. 2 times per week usually works very well. You may be overly fatiguing yourself and not recovering well from session to session because of this. The intensity is a bit too high if you are 'maxing out' on every set. Go to around 70 - 80% of your maximum hold and produce this for sets that are more of less the same. Based on the numbers you show, I would say to start with 40 seconds x all sets and build from here slowly.
@@TheTaoWay Thanks!
was just rewatching GoT, so cool seeing you use the soundtrack

hello, I am learning how to do MABU. My question for you is does this exercise also utilize using the muscle around the knee I mean: vastus lateralis and vastus medialis obliguus other than quadriceps?Thank you. If I feel the burn on these two muscles, do i do it right?
Hello, The quadricep muscles include the muscles of the vastus lateralis and medialis. This being said, the 'burn' can be felt in many different places. This sensation is not always a good indicator that you are doing an exercise right or wrong. Different weaknesses, strengths, and other factors will contribute to this. A lot of the body is worked here but over time you can reduce the excess tensions to a good degree.
Another question, what is the reason for the hip needs to posterior rather than antieroor? Thank you.
Should the knee extend beyond the toes of the feet even a little?
I wanted to see this but you're not a newcomer so not that helpful.
Très tres beau travail 😁 ! Ça donne envie de venir JOUER avec vous de ouf 😊🤙
What was a take-away or something YOU learned from the retreat?
A great question and one I pondered on for quite some after the retreat. I also talked with the group about the many take-aways that I had during the retreat. There is far too much to go into and many of the take-aways and changes are still brewing and growing inside me. One I would like to share is...Appreciation and Gratitude.
Looks awesome 😎

best description on HORSE STANCE on internet
Will give it a crack Antonio! All so true what you have been talking about here, we are travelling now for a longer time, and Its challenging to keep up with training we everything changes... But I do so, thanks for the guidance Coach😊🙏🏼
movement riddles are pretty fun, thanks for that
Horse stance improves my prostate functions.
Always great, usefull, rare contents
Beautiful video, Antonio! Lots of insights. Quick question, how is your Chinese developing? Have you passed the HSK6? Much love from the states! Pat
Thank you! As far as my Chinese level, I passed the HSK 5 around 4 years ago and then since then studied for level 6 for around 2 years. Now, I am not very concerned with taking this level 6 test or necessarily increasing my vocabulary but instead being able to more fluently teach Movement classes in Chinese.
Amazing, my friend! How awesome is it that destiny’s change as we grow! I wish you luck in your studies! As Ido says, “Big hug!”
We used to hold it for half an hour. Then...we would do everything horse stance based. Lol.
oh no, not sure if I can do that
If you are talking about the last riddle, it is a more difficult riddle but just the investigation and spending time exploring it will give you a lot. There is actually a 'simple' way to solve this one but it is not so clear.
Practice, always practice 😊 I remind myself constantly that there is no shame in failure and that it is in fact a great teacher. I see no other way, since success happens more rarely and usually not as visible as does failure.
Thank you, Tone! This is such an important video! Love the nephew and kitty helping out with the session! 😊
Thank you, hope it helps with whatever you wish to improve!
Pure gold ❤ Thank you Antonio.
Thank you, Lucas. I hope it drives an investigation
first one lol, i just needed this video :D
I hope it helps :)
A word of caution: It is important to investigate and find tools for yourself but it is also important not to rely on these tools or believe that because they worked once that they will work again. The work is never finished. If anyone is selling you a protocol that they say works for everyone, all the time…be very cautious as you are treading in dangerous waters.
Stay in Horse Stance position until the legs is tired and get up to relax. Relax the mind, take your time, got a whole Lifetime. To avoid cramps, muscle pull, give up due to tiredness.🐺
I have been a stroke patient.can i do a mabu? Thanks for reply
